Primary School

Giving Meaning to Learning

Let’s unlock your child’s full potential to guide them toward success.

Founded in 2007, the James Cook International School opened its doors on June 24 with just 7 students. The enthusiasm grew quickly—by December of that year, enrollment had risen to 24 students, and by the start of the 2008 school year, the school welcomed no fewer than 64.

In 2016, the primary school, originally based in Ducos, relocated to the Orphelinat district. This new setting allowed the school to open additional classes and expand its reach.

Nearly 15 years later, the primary school now welcomes close to 300 students, spread across 15 classes from Petite Section to CM2 (Kindergarten to Year 6).

The school also hosts international students who follow the Australian curriculum in the morning, then join their regular grade-level classes in the afternoon for transdisciplinary learning.

Language development is a cornerstone of our educational approach. Since 2021, students from CP to CM2 (Year 1 to Year 6) have the opportunity to take a weekly introductory Mandarin course.

Our mission is clear: to nurture every child’s talents and lead them to success.

Our teaching philosophy is rooted in open-mindedness, language development, scientific inquiry, and both artistic and athletic exploration. It draws inspiration from both French and English-speaking education systems.

Our goal is our top priority: placing each child at the center of their learning journey, meeting their individual needs, and empowering them to take ownership of their success—so learning becomes meaningful.
